• By age: Agreement with this statement was largely consistent across age groups (56–61%).
• By gender: Women (60%) and men (58%) had similar levels of agreement.
• By income: Agreement differed by income level, ranging from 63% of people in the lowest income quintile to 51% in the highest income quintile.
• By income support payment: People in the lowest income quintile who were receiving disability, JobSeeker, carer, or parenting payments agreed more (66–69%) than those receiving the age pension (58%).
• By employment status: People who were not in the labour force agreed most (67%) and people who had retired agreed least (51%).
• By income source: People who were self-employed agreed most (77%) and people with investment or other main income sources agreed least (49%).
• By housing status: Tenants in private housing agreed most (67%) and tenants in public or community housing agreed least (42%).
• By location: People from South Australia and Victoria agreed most (64%) and people from NSW agreed least (53%).
• By voting preference: People who voted for ‘other’ parties (i.e., not Labor, Liberal/National, Greens, or an independent) agreed most (79%) and people who voted for Labor in last federal election agreed least (48%).
• By electorate: People in federal electorates held by Liberal/National politicians agreed most (62%) and people in electorates held by independent politicians agreed least (47%).
